Pie Boys Flat has a blog.

"Can I stick this pen in your hair and see if it stays there?' Well, we've finally hit the big time!

Patrick here. Apologies for how long it has been since I've updated the blog but we've been ON THE ROAD!!!!!

And what a time it's been! The shows have been going great. Fitz is still on a doctor ordered 'half-vocal-rest' but we've really been sculpting some of our tunes.

Jason was already down in BAMA for a wedding (no ladies, not his) when Fitz and I made the 15 hour drive down to MACON, GEORGIA to play Mercer College. We passed a milestone while playing. Yes! PBF has been censored for the very first time! Who knew Mercer was affiliated with a religious institution?! Not any of the members of PBF! Now you might be asking yourself what PBF songs are vulgar or inappropriate for a general audience. Well, none,.... but you play 'F*^$ Her Gently' and before you know it our host is appearing on stage with us. So for the next two minutes Jason was gonna 'lovin love' you hard. And surely he did. As well did his parents who were in the audience viewing their first PBF show EVER!!! Now, I don't know how many fans out there know Jason's parents but PBF gives a lot of credit to Jason's dad; 'BIG SID' for puttin some backbone into the band. He's the one who taught us that we can do 'the shit' out of anything. Plus, that guy got us wasted in one of the smokiest dive bars I've ever seen in the south where Jason and I ripped it up on some karaoke! God bless you Sid!

Then it was back up to Hartford, Connecticut to play St. Joseph's College! This was our second time playing for the students there. We played with a couple bands from the Northeast including a band called Stealing Jane from Long Island who were great. This show was really good but the room we were in was horrible for sound. Oh well..... The show was still good. Afterwards I was approached by a girl who had seen the show. Instead of the usual, 'Can I buy a cd?' or 'Can I have your autograph?' she looks at my growing afro and ponders; 'Can I stick this pen in your hair and see if it gets stuck?' It did. Thanx girl!

The next night, back in the city, we played the Pig 'n' Whistle. The show was excellent as always. To tell you the truth, I think we're starting to break the max. occupancy code in there. We all wanna say THANX to all you fans who have made that place such a great time for us over the years! The craziest thing from that night was when an old friend from back in Greece surprised us with a visit! Manoli, the man of the people, for any of you who own the first cut of 'POST NO BILLS', showed up and stayed the whole night! This was a blast for us as we didn't know he was gonna be there and it was our pleasure to play him one our newest songs which has become my favorite 'hands down' at our live shows; 'From Kos with Love'. If you follow our songs closely or you know the band well you might recognize some of the references made in that song. Surely our friend Manoli did.

Two days later we were off to one of the most beautiful settings we've seen since Lake Placid, NY. New London, Connecticut has some of the most scenic land in the northeast. At Univ. of Conn.,Avery Point they have a wonderful view of the Long Island Sound. At noon we started playing for the students in a small room but the sound was immaculate! Once again some highlights from that show were 'From Kos with Love' and 'I'm through with Runnin' Around'. THANX UCONN!

The next night was up in scenic Poughkeepsie, NY at Marist College. We had a blast up there! The show was great and we'll most likely be heading back up there in the fall! (Apparently a lot of the students might also make it down to our gig at the Dockside Pub in Mahopac, NY on March 30th!) A few good friends of the pieboys; (Tim Blane, Rebecca Loebe) have played there a few times before and Marist has a great reputation forming among the artists that play there! THANX!!!!!!!

And finally, last night we played Emmanuel College up in Boston! Once again we dazzled the audience with our rendition of 'F*^$ Her Gently' by Tenacious D. In all actuality, our largest audience from the tour so far seemed to love the show. We had a dance contest to 'Wipe Out'. This was much cleaner then the dancing usually done in NYC since there was no booze around!
THANX Emmanuel!

And the tour moves on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Ithaca College///Dive 96///goin south

Do you see why I started a band with these guys?

After a flat tire, some bad chinese that felt so good, and some bum directions we finally made it to Ithaca University. After we realized the map we were using had 'future' interstates on it we busted a tire. So we get the tire switched. And what do we do when we get a new tire put on the ol' van? Eat Chinese. Highlight of that morning. (The King Buffet in Newbury. Don't miss it.)

Ithaca is a beaut! The show was great! 'See you Smilin' which is becoming a repeat hit with the fans stood out that night. As well, 'Can't Sleep' has been refurbished with a tasty little jam and has been crowd pleasing ever since. After the gig we checked into the spa/hotel they got up there. Very nice. We felt like three year olds in a room where everything was huge. (We're used to it.) I've got footage of us jumping on beds for hours (mins).

Dive 96 was a blast as well! All you Astorians out there really know how to show a girly band a good time!

Now we're off to Macon, Georgia to play Mercer College! LEAVIN THIS WEATHER BEHIND!!!!! See you next time!!!!!!!!! THANX!!!!!

PEACE BEEYOTCHES!!!!

 87 is home/////Paul SmithCollege///// The pig /////Feb.

IT'S A GOOD DAY TO BE A PIEBOY! Patrick here! This week we went up to Paul Smitties College in Paul Smitties NY. We made a trek through the Adirondacks once again!

We wanna thank everyone who made it out to the show! I'm surprised WE made it out to that show. We might have been better off getting there on a dog sled.

The students liked it. Some highlights were 'From Kos with Love', 'Cripple Creek', and our newest tune 'Move to the Sound'. I love it when that song goes over well. It's a really cool piece with a lot of nooks. Nooks & Hooks. That's all you need. And Paul Smiths audience was great for it. Everywhere you go the feeling from the audience is a little different. And my favorite is when an audience takes a little pain to listen some details of our music. Many times you can miss some really great moments if you're not following along. And Paul Smith was right with us.

That song isn't always a knock out if the audience is really attentive. We played the Pig 'n' Whistle last night and, once again, it was PACKED in that place! (VERY COOL! It was an awesome show. To the fans that join us there so often: THANX!!!! YOU GUYS ARE THE ONES THAT MAKE THE SHOWS SO GOOD!!!!!!!) Often we'll play the Pig and the audience will be in PARTY MODE!!! ....Which is great because than they usually love anything we ska-dew. But its times like that when a pieboy might not get as attentive an ear. And songs like 'Move to the Sound' go the way of the Buffalo. (And by Buffalo I mean wiped out by the evil white man). While songs like Fat Bottom Girls and Walkin' on Sunshine get us showered in cash and drawz! BIG DRAWZ!

BANK!

 Green Mountain College--Poultney, VT

Hey there this is Patrick from PIE BOYS FLAT! This week we traveled to Poultney, VT to play a show for the students at Green Mountain College. A very nice town they got up there. Nature you don't see in the city.

The show was good. We set up on a good sound system, got warmed up, started rockin'. But that night brought another perspective. Not that PBF hasn't played shows to small.... small numbers of people before but for the last six or seven months, the members of the band have primarily concerned themselves with the business and budget and scheduling of things for 2007. But now as the FIRST MONTH OF 2007 IS ALMOST OVER, I am reminded of how many musician's stories I've heard about playing to empty houses. Of how many great, FANTASTIC bands I've seen myself in empty venues. How many packed houses I've seen before some really sh*!^y bands.

Tenacious D is a great band. A friend of mine just recently went to see them live at a packed Madison Square Garden. He, like myself, is a serious D fan. He shows up to where he spent the entire night. They rocked as usual but apparently they spent the first half of the show bitching at there audience for not going to see their movie.

An old friend of mine who I respect highly as a musician recently confirmed experiences like ours. It happens all the time. He toured with a band on several MAJOR tours for several YEARS and he is about as good as you can be at his instrument. He commended us for the amount of shows we'll play for the first half of this year. And that we do it all by ourselves.

But the main point is the quality of the show is still SUPREMELY PARAMOUNT and worthy of the GODS! I mean, PBF could 23 ska-dew you a show but it is not so! The show at Green Mountain was great! We sounded great! Can we just hire better audience members? (jk)

THANX TO ALL WHO HELPED US OUT AT THE SHOW AT GREEN MOUNTAIN! We had a blast there! The show was awesome and to the students who did see us: THANX FOR THE SUPPORT!!!! (and the paycheck)

As well I think we came up with a name for the tour this year:
